Creating a New Project

Project Setup provides a guided workflow for creating a new Revit project using the appropriate Flow project standards.

Before You Begin

Open Project Setup from:

Flow → Project → Setup

Select New Project to begin.

Project Profile

Select the project profile that best matches the project being created.

Project profiles allow Flow to determine the appropriate project configuration and Revit template.

Available profiles may vary depending on:

  • Revit version
  • Project type
  • Work type
  • Client requirements
  • Documentation requirements

Only profiles compatible with the current version of Revit are available.

Not sure which profile to use?

Choose the profile that best describes the project rather than selecting a template manually.

Flow uses the project profile to determine the appropriate project configuration and Revit template.

Revit Template

Flow uses the selected project profile to determine the appropriate office-approved Revit template.

This removes the need to manually locate the correct template for the current version of Revit.

Revit version

Flow automatically uses templates compatible with the version of Revit currently running.

Templates from another Revit version are not offered for selection.

Project Information

Enter the project information required to establish the new project.

Project information is used throughout the setup workflow and may also be used when creating project folders and project files.

See:

➡️ Project Information

Creating the Project

Once the required selections and project information are complete, the project can be created.

Flow validates the selected configuration before allowing project creation.

Create Project unavailable?

Create Project is only available when the required project setup information is valid.

Check the project profile, template and required project information if the command is unavailable.

After Creating the Project

Once the project has been created, Project Setup can be used to inspect and complete the remaining project configuration.
